Let's start with two stories
Case A
At 13:41 on May 15, 2019, a fire broke out in a room at No. 1, South Automobile Museum Road, Fengtai District, Beijing. The cause of the fire is the UPS battery string line fault.
Case B
On November 3, 2018, a fire broke out in a bank on Xinghua Middle Road, Fuling District, Chongqing. The bank announced that the fire was caused by a fire * from an aging UPS battery in the bank's computer room. Fortunately, the fire was located some distance from the vault where the cash was stored, and the cash and belongings in the bank were not badly damaged.
UPS fire Causes
1. The contact resistance caused by the virtual connection of the cable connector is too large, and the contact surface is seriously oxidized after the temperature rises, which will cause the contact resistance to become larger, and eventually lead to electrical ignition or even arc pulling, which will ignite combustible materials nearby and cause fire.
2 Short circuits, switches, or loads at the back end of the UPS power supply are short-circuited, causing internal UPS fires or high-power components to explode.
The dust in some UPS power installation places is serious. The dust is inhaled into the UPS through the heat dissipation fan of the UPS. If the dust concentration reaches a certain value, the UPS may catch fire.
How to prevent UPS fire accidents?
★ Equipment selection, improve the safety of battery system by selecting products with better fire performance
★ Short circuit protection is set for battery confluence branches
★ Configure the battery monitoring and temperature monitoring systems
★ Install temperature control and dehumidification devices
★ Perform routine maintenance on the UPS battery string, and remove the static electricity periodically
