Uninterrupted power supply for computers is now common in daily use, but whether to use lithium or lead-acid batteries is one of the questions people are wondering. The fast charging of lithium batteries is clearly preferred. Recently, a team led by academician Yu Shuhong of the University of Science and Technology of China proposed and prepared a new double-gradient graphite anode material to solve the contradiction between high energy density and fast charging performance of lithium-ion batteries, which can charge 60% of lithium-ion batteries in 6 minutes. It is believed that the emergence of this research result will certainly attract great attention in the power supply industry, and this technology will be widely used in various industries in our society, such as new energy vehicles, household power supply, uninterrupted power supply for computers, etc.

At present, lithium-ion battery-driven electric vehicles are favored by people because of the advantages of energy saving and environmental protection. However, in the daily use of lithium batteries, the charging time of electric vehicles is much longer than the refueling time of traditional fuel cars, which greatly reduces the favorable degree of user experience. This is mainly because the poor rate performance of the graphite negative electrode in lithium-ion batteries limits the fast charging capacity of electric vehicles, which is also one of the reasons for the limited promotion of new energy in the market.

Energy density and power density are two important parameters to evaluate battery system. Energy density determines how much energy can be stored per unit mass/volume, and power density determines the rate at which a battery can be charged and discharged. Ideally, the higher these two parameters, the better the performance of lithium-ion batteries. The research team set out to pursue two parameters, which "completed the process of hypothesis, theoretical model establishment and experimental re-verification, and provided a new idea to overcome the contradiction between high energy density and fast charging performance of lithium-ion batteries".
Now new materials break through the bottleneck of lithium batteries, so in the power industry, in addition to lead-acid batteries, people also have more choices. In today's more and more frequent use of uninterrupted computer power supply, people can also choose more efficient energy, more environmentally friendly lithium batteries will be able to achieve a better response in the market.
